GUY DE
 MAUPASSANT
 - THE NECKLACE -

The Necklace tells about a married woman. She is a charming perfect look and she is from a rich family. He did not refuse or too nagging marriage until he married a little clerk in the Ministry of Public Instruction. In this story I choose her husband. M. Loisel’s as my favourite character.
The reason I choose M. Loisel’s through my reading is because, I feel that she is a very considerate husband in dealing with his wife. On top of that he also knows the level of his ability to meet his wife's demands. In the same vein, he was patient even though his wife had made their living from a comfortable situation forced to settle down and struggle to pay off their debts.

The first point that I want to highlight is that he is a very considerate husband to his wife. He declined to attend the invitation given by Mme. George because he knows he's just a little clerk at the Ministry of Public Instruction. To attend the event, he must be dressed in accordance with the theme at Palace. He couldn't afford to buy expensive clothes just to attend the event. But seeing his wife's excitement to attend the event, he had to use the money he collected to buy a gun and treat himself to a little shooting next summer on the plain of Nanterre with her friends.
Moreover, even his character is don’t stand out but it gives impact. As a wife, she needs to listen to her husband advice. M. Loisel's knew he couldn't afford expensive jewelry and he said he could afford two or three magnificent roses because his wife was also charming and beautiful. The fresh flowers were a trend at the time and very suit with her outfit. He has stated that he is only able to buy fresh flowers but his wife still wants to wear jewelry.

Although, he became my favorite character because of his patient and not angry toward his wife who turned their simple life into a difficult life. He had to pay back debt due to his wife's actions that had missing the necklace she borrows from her friend Mme. Forestier. The neckless she notices missing when she arrives home. M. Loisel’s did not insult or scold his wife. In addition, he advises his wife to ask for time wasted to return the necklace and together help his wife repay the debt even for the last ten years.

In conclusion, although M. Loisel’s character is only a small character who appears only a few times but it makes me like character because of he is a very considerate husband, humble and very patient.
